Chicago's honorary brown signs are commemorative, co-names for many streets in the City of Chicago. They remind locals and tourists of the contributions of the famous and the obscure who have made a difference in Chicago and in the world.

Benjamin Marshall has left a legacy of architecture that has helped transform Chicago into the great city we know and treasure today. His presence can be seen in neighborhoods near and far from Chicago, no street better exemplifies Marshall’s legacy than East Lake Shore Drive, where he was both the Pioneering Architect and Developer.

In Tribute to the Life & Legacy of the Architect Benjamin Marshall

Join the Celebration on the corner of East Lakeshore Drive and Michigan Avenue as the City of Chicago honors the life and legacy of the architect behind some of the cities most beloved icons.

East Lakeshore Drive is being unveiled as Honorary Benjamin Marshall Way. Alderman Brian Hopkins will preside over the unveiling and dedication starting at 5:30 p.m. with a champagne reception Drake Hotel in the Gold Coast Room. Doors to the reception open at 6:15 p.m.

Celebrate the architect and his work that helped shape Chicago into the great city we love today. With music, cocktails and hors d'oeuvre in a setting designed by the great architect himself.
